Luretta Ann Buschmann

Luretta Ann Buschmann, 70, of Wolf Creek, died Friday, March 9, 2007 at her home.

A gathering of life potluck will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 1291 Speaker Road, Wolf Creek. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Luretta was born May 26, 1936 in Portland, Oregon to Albert Harold Gilliam & Phyllis Bernice Greiner Gilliam. She lived in Wolf Creek all her life. Her grandparents, Fred & Minnie Gilliam homesteaded in the Wolf Creek area in early 1910. In 1951 in Reno, Nevada she married Ellis U. Buschmann. Together with her husband, she was instrumental in verifying the Cow Creek Tribe as a legitimate tribe. In 1977 she helped organize and start the Easter Parade in Wolf Creek. In the later 1970s she worked for the Turk Bulb Farms in Grants Pass. Luretta worked as a cook at Mama Jeralonies Restaurant and the Hungry Wolf Restaurant for many years.

She loved flower gardening, cats, and her dog, Ms. Lily. She always had her door open to anybody and everybody providing food and a place to stay.

Survivors include four sons, Donald Buschmann (Jo) of Wolf Creek (Karena and Sara), Daniel Buschmann of Ontario (Brittney, Levi and Courtney), Thomas Buschmann of Lakeview (Cougar and Jay), and James Buschmann (Gale) of Wolf Creek (Duwayne, Leann, Leonna and Douglas-Kimo); two brothers, Victor Gilliam of Santa Barbara, California and Vernie Gilliam of Talkeetna, Alaska; a sister, Alberta Minton of Wolf Creek; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Ellis U. Buschmann she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Buschmann in 1953, a granddaughter, Melinda Buschmann in 1971, a great-granddaughter, Kayla Randall in 1995 and a sister, Arvetta Klum in 2001.
