Louise Birch

Louise Birch, 90, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2006 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 909 NE A Street, Grants Pass OR 97526.

Southern Oregon Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.

She was born Louise M. Peters on May 12, 1916 in Iola, Texas. On October 1, 1937 in Houston, Texas she married William Hood Birch, who preceded her in death. She moved to Grants Pass in 2004 from Trinity Center, California.

Louise was a member of the Christian Women’s Club; Western Welcome Newcomers; Calvary Lutheran Church and Community Bible Study. She also volunteered as welcome hostess at Horizon Village.

She enjoyed genealogy, travel, gardening, being outdoors walking and hiking. She also enjoyed being with people and entertaining, doing ceramics, receiving computer emails and reading and writing.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Greene of Grants Pass; one son Bill Birch of Etna, California; a sister, Jean Root of Saint Petersburg, Florida; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Her sister, Faye Jordan preceded her in death.
