Lillian Mary King

June 11, 1943 — January 19, 2016

Our dear Lillian Mary King, 72, passed away January 19, 2016, in Rogue River, Oregon. She was born June 11, 1943, in Sacramento, California, to Marvin Kienke Jukes (1921-1995) and Delma Lund Jukes (1923-2015). She graduated from San Juan High School in Citrus Heights, California, and married Frank William “Bill” King (1923-2015) August 26, 1966, in Park City, Utah.

After high school she worked in the radio broadcast industry where she met Bill. She and Bill lived in Richfield, Utah; Salt Lake City, Utah; Chicago, Illinois; Tujunga, California; and finally in Rogue River, Oregon. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in many capacities and she particularly enjoyed working with the primary children and her service as a temple worker. Their rural, mountain home in Rogue River became a favorite, joyful destination for her siblings and many nieces and nephews. One of her favorite jobs, of which she spoke frequently, was working with people and books at the library in Rogue River. She especially loved reading stories to the children. Her favorite calling was leading the music for the primary children.

Lillian was greatly loved by her family and friends for her wit and wisdom, her love of music and books, her great cooking, and her many other talents in crafts, sewing, spinning, weaving and quilting, leather work, and her kind and caring service to others.

Lillian is survived by her brothers, Walter (Sandy) Jukes and Richard (Marie) Jukes, sister-in-law Dee Jukes-Cooper, brother-in-law Bob Davison, step-children Ron King and Judy King Winn, and many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, step grandchildren and great grandchildren and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, siblings Chad Kay Jukes (1955-1993) and Linda Ann Jukes Davison (1947-2002), and step-son Perry King (1959-2008).

In lieu of a memorial service, Lillian requested that her family and friends remember her with their favorite songs around a campfire.

Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. A dedication of the grave will be held at a later date.

Those wishing to send cards or memories may send them to Walter and Richard Jukes, P.O. Box 34, Shingle Springs, California, 95682, or post them to their Facebook pages.
