Lila Mabel Johnson
April 19, 1921 – February 28, 2007
Lila, with her husband Harvey, was a resident of Grants Pass since 1965. They moved to Grants Pass from Guam, M.I., when Harvey retired from Civil Service.
During their years in Grants Pass they owned the Hugo Hitching Post, the Texaco service station on “E” St., and various other endeavors.
Lila was born Lila Pope, in Ripley, CA. Her family soon moved back to Big Springs, Texas, where she spent her school years. Lila was the fifth of eleven children. She married Harvey Lon Johnson on September 11, 1943.
She was a substitute schoolteacher in the school system in Guam for a number of years.
She is survived by her sons, Lonnie, Daniel, and Ross; all of the Grants Pass area.
She was preceded in death by her husband. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, at 1:00 PM, at the Hugo Community Church, where Lila was a member.
Burial will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens on Monday, March 5, 2007, at 11:00AM.
