Lewis Edward Banks

February 2, 1943 — March 9, 2017

Lewis (Lew) was born in Portland, Oregon and passed away on March 9, 2017 in Grants Pass, Oregon. Lew was the son of Marijane Keller and Lewis Kline Banks of Portland.

Lew attended Woodrow Wilson High School and represented the school in swimming and diving, achieving city and state championships respectively. He attended University of Oregon followed by a four year tour with the Air Force, during the Viet Nam War.

Following these four years, he was employed by Pan American Airways for 24 years and was based in Tacoma, Washington and San Jose, California. With the demise of Pan Am he joined Casto Travel in San Jose. His outside interests were bowling, golf and boating.

Lew leaves behind three sons, Edward Clark, of San Jose, CA, Lewis Robert of Tacoma, WA and Jerry Preston of Morgan Hill, CA, and seven grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Sharon Julian and brother in law Lance Julian of Naples, Florida. Lewis will be missed by his partner in life, Carolyn Sublett.

Lewis Banks was loved by many for his caring ways, and a warm heart towards all.

The family would like to thank Asante Rogue Regional Hospital and Highland House Care and Rehabilitation Center and Signature Hospice Care, for their wonderful attention to Lew over this last several weeks.
