Lester Ellis Forsyth, age 90, of Rogue River, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 909 NE A Street, Grants Pass, OR 97526 with Pastor Don Carlson officiating. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

He was born on July 21, 1916 in Elizabeth, Colorado. On February 2, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa, he married the former, Dorothy Helen McMaster, who survives. He served in the U S Army from 1943 to 1945 in the European Theater with the Army engineers. In 1973 he and his wife moved to Rogue River from Newbury Park, California where they had lived since 1965. Prior to moving to Newbury Park, they lived in Compton, California for 20 years. He worked as an electrician and electrical contractor for over 50 years and retired in 1979.
He was a life member of the VFW, Post 4116 in Rogue River. He also attended Faith Lutheran Church and Calvary Lutheran Church. He was active in the Boy Scout program in California, where he received many awards, including the highest award, which was the Silver Beaver Award.
He enjoyed golfing and was interested all of his life in sports, especially while his children were growing up and was very involved with all of their activities. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and hunting and water skiing.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy Helen Forsyth of Rogue River; survivors include his three sons, James Forsyth of Portland; Ronald Forsyth of Danville, California; and Gregory Forsyth of Bonny Lake, Washington; his sister, Geraldine Johnson of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; his brother, Robert Forsyth of Exeter, California; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
