Lester C. Crawford, age 60, of Grants Pass, died April 11, 2022 at his home.
Lester was born February 21, 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a part of the children that were bussed to help with integration of schools in the 1960s. He graduated from Messick High School in Memphis. In 1983 Lester enlisted in the United States Army and served as a cook while stationed in Germany. After a transfer to Ft Hood, Texas, Lester met and married Konni Humphrey who was also serving in the Army. After Lester’s Army discharge, Konni was transferred to Germany, and Lester went to work for the United States government in Giessen, Germany. After a transfer to Ft Carson, Colorado, Lester was a domestic engineer until Konni’s military discharge in 1993. At that time, the family moved from Colorado to Grants Pass. Lester worked several different jobs until 2006 when he started work as a custodian for Three Rivers School District.
Lester loved to play Boggle and Chess with his wife and kids. He also loved spending time with their travel trailer at the Oregon Coast every year.
Lester is survived by his wife Konni Crawford of Grants Pass; children, Leslie of Memphis, Tennessee, Latonya of Germany, Anja of Grants Pass, and Earl (Heather) of Portland; his mother and stepfather Jessie & John Smith; three sisters Cynthia Walker, Sheila McNeil and Roslyn Crawford; and brother Austin Crawford.
He was preceded in death by his father Willie B Crawford and his grandparents.
A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., May 6, 2022 at Hidden Valley High School.
Private interment with military honors will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
