Leslie L. Mode

Leslie L. Mode, age 74, of Roseburg, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at his home of cancer.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Grants Pass with Pastor Jason Dillon officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Les was born March 26, 1938 in Sutherlin, Oregon to Joseph Louis Mode and Ruth Helen (Hall) Mode. He worked in the woods and at Georgia Pacific until working at Lakeside, Oregon Water District for 20 years until his retirement in 2000. In 2004 he moved from Lakeside to Roseburg.

Les was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the YMCA.

His hobbies included woodworking, ATV beach combing, and lake and ocean fishing.

He helped the elderly in his younger years.

Les is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diana L. Mode of Roseburg; three daughters, Cathy Roberson of Sutherlin, Tammy Welker of Winston, and Debby Markham of Sutherlin; two sisters, Annabelle Rietman of Grants Pass and JoAnn McCLean of Lookingglass; and two grandchildren, Hannah Smith and Shaun Markham and his “Buddydog”, Katie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter Mode; a sister, Elvina “Tiny” McGinnis; and a brother, John Mode.
