Leonard E. Frick, 91, of Kerby, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
Viewing will be held Friday from noon to 7 p.m. at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Community Bible Church in Cave Junction. Private burial will follow.

Leonard was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Winnipeg, Canada. In 1928, he moved to Los Angeles with his mother and sister. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942 and earned the rank of sergeant major after four years. He fought in the Pacific Rim with his unit, The Flying Marine Corsairs. In 1945, he married Barbara Pickrell, who died before him. They were married 25 years. In 1971, he married Mildred “Millie” Kieren, who died Sept. 2, 2011. In 1976, he retired from Foremost Dairies. He moved from Santa Barbara, Calif., to Oregon in 1979 to own and operate The Holiday Motel.
Leonard was a member of the Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Valley Lions Club, the Illinois Valley Fire District, the Illinois Valley Golf Course, the Illinois Valley Kiwanis, the Illinois Valley Airport Board, the Asante Foundation and the Rogue Valley Area Transportation Board. He volunteered delivering hospital equipment in the Illinois Valley for 19 years and he was involved with the Christmas Basket Program, the Cave Junction Christmas tree lighting and the Kerby Ditch Association.
He enjoyed the Illinois Valley, golf, fishing, crossword puzzles, studying the Bible and caring for his family and community.
Survivors include a son, James L. “Jim” Frick of Grants Pass; three daughters, Linda S. Grant of Redding, Calif., Connie Christiansen of Hermiston, and Janice M. Simpson of Baker City; 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Dorothy, died before him.
