Leon Leroy Markel

Leon Leroy Markel, 72, of Glendale, OR, died Friday, December 23, 2016, at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center.

He was born on March 15th, 1944 in Mitchell, Nebraska to Wayne (Frosty) and Thelma (Kelley) Markel. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the lumber industry, as a saw filer.

On February 27th, 1965 in Glendale, OR, he married Glena Gilmore, who died before him.

He enjoyed trading vehicles, mudding, hunting, racing cars, NASCAR, beer, football, barbequing and spending time with his family.

Mr. Markel is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Mellanie and Toby Ezell and Michelle and Steve Ezell of Grants Pass, OR; his brother, Wayne H. Markel Jr. of Crescent City, CA; and three grandchildren, Bethany Ezell, Mitchel Ezell and Larissa Ezell of Grants Pass, OR.
