On December 27, 2021 and January 7, 2022, God called Lenora Ruth Davidson and Rayford Eugene Davidson home, joining their parents, two of Lenora’s siblings, and friends in heaven. If you had the pleasure of knowing Ray and Lenora, then you had the pleasure of feeling the compassion, love, and joy that they shared with any and everyone that crossed their paths in life.
Both Rayford and Lenora were born in small towns in California where they had large, loving families, each with three siblings. Taught by their parents to work hard, enjoy life, and love as Christ loved them, they spent their lives in service to their families, friends, and community.
Ray and Lenora met during high school, and then ultimately reunited years later after Ray’s exemplary service in VietNam. They then married and began their legacy of love in California before journeying to Oregon. They settled into their lives and built their family in the small city of Grants Pass, where they would ultimately spend the rest of their lives, creating their legacy of love.
Outside of the raising of five kids, Lenora felt called to spend her life sharing God’s love through her time as Children’s Director at church, twelve years of operating two local preschools, and through her gently used children’s store, The Baby Place. Family, both her own, and those around her, were the most important things to her, and she showed it in her tireless work for over 40 years.
Rayford opened Grants Pass Garage Door Specialist when they moved to Oregon in 1979. With over 50 years in his tradecraft, he was an honest and hard working man who received business mostly by word of mouth. His outstanding work ethic and kindness made him the expert that also became your friend. Ray was the type of man that not only offered his services, but also offered his heart. In every conversation, interaction, and job, he gave of himself in a way that left you feeling honored, accepted, and grateful for having met him.
Their 44 years of marriage demonstrated God’s true unconditional love to each other, as well as everyone in their lives. They were the perfect example of partnership, respect, kindness, and pure joy. They are survived and greatly missed by their six children: David Ferry, Jared Davidson, Marla Pfau, Marleece Davidson, Jessica Davidson, and Janae Davidson. They are also missed by their 11 grandchildren; Aliana, Evan, Dillon, Emily, Ava, Kyan, Ezekiel, Alexa, Dixie, Lily, and Jonah, along with many other friends, family, and community members. They are our heroes, and they will never be forgotten for all they did.
The burial will immediately follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, and the celebration of their lives will immediately follow the burial.
A Celebration of Lives is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors with longtime family friend, Butch Lampkin, conducting.
Military Funeral Honors for Rayford’s faithful service will be rendered by the United States Marine Corps.
