Lena Viola Purvis, age 98, of Grants Pass died February 18, 2014 at Three Rivers Medical Center and was a fighter right to the end.
No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Lena was born May 31, 1915 in Otto, Wyoming to Claude & Mable Williams. She moved from Kansas to Grants Pass 30 years ago. She owned and operated her own business.
Lena was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She was a seamstress and also enjoyed skydiving, rock collecting, cooking, and bookkeeping. She especially loved all the children in her family and found no greater joy than simply watching them be children.
Survivors include two children, Denny Purvis and Sherry Waldo; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Ray Purvis and Judy Purvis; a sister, Bethal Burch; and a brother, Foster Williams.
She leaves a legacy of love, hope and devotion to family despite all kinds of circumstances. Wherever she may be today, the large group of family that she leaves behind misses her greatly and hopes that she is warm and that no one has messed up her tea.
