Lela Eva Shoemaker, age 101, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.
No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Lela was born July 11, 1908 in Wichita, Oregon to Charles & Ottie Hodgdon. She was raised in Tillamook. On January 13, 1933 in Tillamook she married John B. “Jack” Shoemaker. In 1944 they moved to Evans Valley and in 1972 they moved to Grants Pass, living a total of 65 years in the Rogue Valley
She was a member of Free Methodist Church in Grants Pass.
Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening, bicycle riding and riding behind Ken, her son-in-law, on his motorcycle.
Survivors include her two daughters, LeElla Lyon of Medford and Ruth Curphey (Ken) of Grants Pass; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Jack Shoemaker in 1969 and a son David Shoemaker in 1956.
