Lee Ray Lewis, age 68, of Grants Pass, died November 28, 2018 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.
Lee was born December 30, 1949 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Paul “Tad” & Virginia (Enloe) Lewis. He graduated from Illinois Valley High School where he participated in basketball and track Class of 1967. On September 27, 1967 in Reno, Nevada he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Frost. He worked for Rogue River mill before enlisting in the United States Navy living in Japan and San Diego while serving in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1973. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Southern Oregon and attended Rogue Community College. He loved logging and went to work for his father-in-law, Ray Frost and for 25 years was co-owner and operator of Frost, Buckhaults & Lewis Logging. After Ray’s death and Jerry Buckhault’s relocation, Lee worked for other logging companies until his retirement in 2005. He moved from Selma to Grants Pass nine years ago.
Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, motorcycling, crabbing, and playing cribbage and pool. He loved his entire family and was there for all his nieces, nephews, and the neighbor kids.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Frost of Grants Pass; children, Marti (Levi) Spencer and her child Kade of Grants Pass, Charlene (Randy) Ray and their children Erica and Garrett of Fairbanks, Alaska, Marcella (Paul) Gareau and their children Karley, Aharon, Blake and Samantha of Grants Pass and Chad (Susan) Lewis of Portland; and brother, Gary (Kat) Lewis of Selma.
He was preceded in death by sister Carma Norton and brother John Williams.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
