LaVona Ness died October 30, 2020 in Grants Pass, OR. A private service was held at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a food bank.
LaVona was born September 4, 1928 in Salina, Utah to Niels Jensen and Chestina Crane.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many teaching and leadership positions.
She received a scholarship for the Utah Branch Agriculture College (now Southern Utah University).
In 1946 she married Boyd Edwards in Utah and had three children: Michael, Lynn, and Debbie. LaVona and Boyd later divorced.
In 1963 she married Donald Robert Ness in Belmont, California. They were married for over 50 years, and they had a daughter, Karen.
LaVona was an active bowler for over 50 years, and she was a genealogy teacher and lecturer for over 60 years.
In 1987 she and her husband moved to Grants Pass, where she continued her activities. She was a member of the Grants Pass Genealogical Society, a volunteer at the Family History Center, and a founding member of the Southern Oregon PAF Users Group.
She is survived by her husband and four children (Michael Edwards, Lynn Edwards, Debbie Nollan, Karen Slama), fourteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
