Larry J. McCurry, age 69, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at OHSU Hospital in Portland.
Larry was born April 25, 1945 in Lindsay, California to Floyd & Maggie McCurry. He graduated from high school in Strathmore, California before serving in the United States Navy in Vietnam. In 1980 in Union City, California he married Diane Cornelius. For over 30 years Larry was an ironworker/rigger with the California Iron Workers Union 378 retiring in 1998. In 2002 he moved from Union City to Grants Pass.
Larry was a member of the Kiwanis, Elks, and Cam Kings Car Club. He was on the board and volunteered with the Josephine County Park Service in Grants Pass. He also volunteered with many Kiwanis and Elks projects.
His hobbies included antique cars, crabbing, music, traveling in his motor home, and designing and making yard art. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include Larry’s wife, Diane McCurry of Grants Pass, Oregon; six children, Karrie Nobriga and husband John of Lodi, California, Dennis McCurry and wife Tami of Grants Pass, Oregon, Scott McCurry of Modesto, California, Robert McCurry of Atwater, California, Cathie McCurry of Modesto, California, and Gary Kimbel of St. Charles, Missouri; a sister, Donna Gray and husband Dale of Lindsay, California; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Shelby Zunino, Juanita Schettler, Lorretta Oliveira, Eldridge McCurry, and G.W. McCurry.
A family gathering will be held at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
