Larry Eugene Sheets, age 70, of Cave Junction, died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at his home.
Military honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 22, 2009 with a viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon both at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A memorial gathering and potluck will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009 at Rough & Ready Park.

Larry was born May 23, 1938 in Del Norte, Colorado to Arthur Monroe Sheets & Olive Cleo Elledge Sheets and was raised in Delta, Colorado. His first job was pumping gas at a service station. He then joined the United States Navy. On May 9, 1969 in Grants Pass he married Mae Marie Booze. He moved from Grants Pass to Cave Junction 33 years ago. He was a millworker his entire adult life and from 1976 to 1996 he worked for Rough & Ready as a lumber grader on night shift.
He was a member of AA and was a help and support person to others.
He enjoyed motorcycle racing with his son especially with a triumph he owned and Suzukis. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching their activities. He loved to tease people and was known as “Ornery Larry” and loved his dog, Mindy.
In addition to his wife, Mae Sheets of Cave Junction; he is survived by five daughters, Evonne Lynn Scheirbeck of Rio Dell, California, Marvelle Yvette Squire of Clear Lake, Alaska, Anna Marie Weitzel of Pennsylvania, Kathleen Rochelle Berry of Hugo, and Lynette Rene Hunter of Escalon, California; a son, Christopher Lee Sheets of Grants Pass; a sister, Glenda Rader of Grants Pass; three brothers, Laren Sheets and Dennis Sheets both of Grants Pass and Greg Reynard of Central Point; 17 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Adams and a brother, Jimmy Sheets.
