Laron Justin Estes, passed away at Three Rivers Medical Center on Saturday, September 7, 2013, he was taken from us before his time.
Laron was born to Justin Robert Estes and Kathleen Devol Jackson in Grants Pass, Oregon at Josephine General Hospital on March 22, 1954. He grew up on his family owned dairy in Cave Junction where he broke and trained horses and set records in racing, both in barrel and gymkhana competitions. Laron graduated from Illinois Valley High School in 1972 and served in the United States Army for three years.
Laron was a “Cowboy” who was certified in structural steel welding, built wind generators, drove long haul trucks, built street cars and cycles, did landscaping and owned a transmission shop.
Laron met his wife, Barbara in 2001 and they spent 12 wonderful years together. He was an amazing man, always willing to help those in need. His love of God made him shine and those who truly knew him loved him as well. His family was his joy and passion.
Laron is survived by his wife, Barbara; his mother, Kathleen Devol Jackson, father, Justin Robert Estes; sister, Carolyn Jackson of Eugene, Oregon; brother, Gary Estes of Lebanon, Oregon; his children, Chris Woutila and Mike Murray both of Washington and Trish Fields of Grants Pass; stepdaughters, Tamara and Layla, from a previous marriage; and numerous foster children he cared for and loved plus many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Anna; granddaughter, Kaylinn; and stepfather, Don Jackson.
Laron loved to spend time with his family, especially his 17 grandchildren that he adored and was his love and passion, as well as gardening, raising his Chihuahuas, and growing water lilies and Koi.
A memorial account has been set up in Laron’s name at Washington Federal to help pay for Laron’s expenses.
A public viewing for those who want closure and to say goodbye will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
