Kim D. Shaffer, age 55, of Grants Pass, died Friday, August 30, 2013 at Three Rivers Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Riverside Park Pavilion. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Kim was born July 13, 1958 in Lansing, Michigan to James & Carol Shaffer. He grew up in Lansing and graduated from East Lansing High School. After high school he attended college at Michigan State. He moved from Michigan to Grants Pass in 1978. In 1980 he received his Associate Degree in Welding at Rogue Community College. He worked for Fire-View Wood Stove Manufacturing as a welder; Ranger Satellite Systems welding satellites; a cabinet maker in Merlin; and as a millwright at Bentwood Furniture. He medically retired 12 years ago.
His hobbies included waterskiing as a younger man, snow skiing, fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Shaffer of Grants Pass; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Gustafson of Grants Pass; father, James Shaffer and stepmother, Helene Shaffer of Sarasota, Florida; two sisters, Cynthia Buchan of Traverse City, Michigan and Lauri Olsen of Mason, Michigan and three grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Carol Warwick and a brother, Mark Shaffer.
