Kharma Joan Smith

Kharma Joan Smith, age 11, of Grants Pass, died August 21, 2019 at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.

Kharma was born September 28, 2007 in Overland Park, Kansas to Timothy & Erin (Stevens) Smith. She lived in Blue Springs, Missouri and attended William Bryant Elementary School before moving with her family from Missouri to Grants Pass in 2016. She attended Highland Elementary and in June finished 5th grade where she enjoyed art, Legos, robotics, drawing, and friends. She would have been a 6th grader this fall at North Middle School.

Kharma loved her cat “Koko” and her spirit animal was a tiger. Together with her family, she enjoyed camping, ocean, mountains, and kayaking. She loved watching her favorite teams, the Kansas State Wildcats, Golden State Warriors and Oakland A’s, with her family. She loved fairies and was always creative in nature, especially with forts which she made from random materials around the house and outside. She had recently taken karate lessons with Kenpo Karate at Club Northwest and had earned her yellow belt.

Survivors include her parents, Timothy A. & Erin M. Smith; two brothers Avery Smith and Tennin Smith all of Grants Pass; grandparents Donald & Bonnie Smith of Goodland, Kansas, Marc Stevens & Lisa Derby of Chadron, Nebraska, and Janet Stevens of Ashland, Oregon; and great-grandparents Sandra & Paul Stevens of Grayson, Kentucky and Joan Rhodes of Shawnee, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her uncle Brian Smith in 1992.

A viewing will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., August 30, 2019 and 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., August 31, 2019 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A celebration of life for Kharma will be at 10:30 a.m., August 31, 2019 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
