Kevin W. Griswold, 66, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on July 11, 2023, following a brief battle with bladder cancer.
Since his May diagnosis of stage 4 muscle-invasive bladder cancer, Kevin approached each day as a blessing and made sure family and friends knew how much he loved and appreciated them. Despite the frustrations of his treatment and unyielding discomfort, Kevin remained optimistic and continued planning for the future with the love of his life, Mary.
Born on September 4, 1956, in Highland Park, Illinois, Kevin led a remarkable life dedicated to service and protecting others. A Marine Corps Veteran, decorated Oakland Police Officer (25 years) and member of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), Kevin committed his life and legacy to creating a safer and more just world. His further devotion to workplace violence prevention earned him admiration and respect during his 15 years as a Corporate Security Investigator at PG&E.
Kevin's impact extended beyond his professional life. He cherished the time spent with his family, finding joy in the presence of his wife, Mary, their son, Ben (Jessica), their daughter, Katy (Eric), and his cherished grandchildren, Oliver, Jack, and Arya. Kevin's love and dedication to his family were evident in the lasting memories he created with them - from Harley road trips, to endless summer days boating, and his corny dance moves. Kevin’s warmth, generosity, and geniality were second to none.
Outside of his professional achievements and family life, Kevin enjoyed golfing during his retirement and had a knack for cooking delicious meals that brought family and friends together in affection and laughter. A generous and thoughtful host, Kevin was always quick to offer a beverage of choice. He looked forward to honing his fly fishing skills, improving his putting, and sharing the enjoyment of a well-earned retirement with his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ben, and his parents, George and Virginia. Kevin leaves behind his brothers, Steve, Rick, and Phil, and his wife of 42 years, Mary, and daughter, Katy.
In honor of Kevin's memory, the family invites you to share your memories on his Guestbook. As a tribute to his legacy, they kindly request donations to be made to the HunterSeven Foundation, an organization that reflects Kevin's passion for protecting others.
While he may not be here, he lives on in our hearts and in the cherished memories he leaves behind.
Please share a memory of Kevin on his Guestbook.
