Kent was born May 1, 1962 in Bandon, Oregon. He was a North Valley High School graduate. After high school, Kent volunteered with Grants Pass Rural Fire Department. He also cut and sold wood. Kent moved to Portland for two years where he drove dump truck. Upon returning to the Rogue Valley Kent worked as a diesel mechanic; a job he continued to do, part time. He currently was employed full time as a fuel truck driver for Colvin Oil Company for the past ten years and thoroughly enjoyed working Colvin’s Cave Junction route becoming friends with many residents.
Kent took great pleasure in league bowling for more than 18 years, half of which at Master’s level. His average was over 200. He was a member of Southern Oregon All-Stars (bowling) for several years.
Kent was very generous with his time and talents, often taking the role of Good Samaritan for which he’ll be sorely missed. For several years, during the winter months, he distributed pet food in outlying areas for animal rescue organizations. Kent’s personality made him the person to call when in need of help or advice.
At the time of his death he was doing what he did best – helping a friend.
Kent’s hobbies included rafting, dirt bikes, quads, working on semi’s and tinkering in his shop.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen “Kat” Corthell of Merlin; a son, Keenan of Eugene; two daughters, Angela and Shannon both of Merlin; a stepson, Shawn Corthell of Battle Mountain, Nevada; his father, Russell “Buzz” Hubbard of Huntington, Oregon; two brothers, Kevin Hubbard of Myrtle Creek and Kyle Hubbard of Rogue River; a sister, Kim Spencer of Bakersfield, California; three grandchildren, Sonya, Chyann, and Nathaniel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlyn “Sue” Hubbard in 2002 and a grandson, Brandon Corthell in 2001.
