Kenny Yarbrough, age 79, of Glendale, went to be with Jesus March 30, 2021 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center.
Kenny was born July 13, 1941 in Little Rock, Arkansas to George & Allie Yarbrough. At age 14, he moved with his family to Arcata, California where he graduated from high school. In August 1975 he married Shirley Hastings. He worked for Humboldt County Corrections before medically retiring. He also worked as a spreaderman and as a supervisor for various lumber mills; owned his own truck and hauled freight; owned Jamaica Joe’s Shaved Ice; and built and sold many shaved ice trailers.
Kenny was an excellent carpenter and woodworker. He also wrote and recorded songs and was an excellent lead guitar player. Kenny was a jokester and always had a smile. He loved God, people, and attending church; spending time with family and friends; fishing; and playing dominos and crazy B rummy. Kenny also loved motorcycles and motorcycle hill climbing, even once winning the Southern Oregon Hillclimbing competition.
Survivors include his wife Shirley; daughter Teri Carey and husband Steve; daughter-in-law April; son-in-law Kevin; grandchildren Kory and Kayla Lockhart and Tess and Chris McWilliams; great-grandchildren Koen and Kenna Lockhart and Daniel and Beau Dennis, and Elizabeth McWilliams; and brother Butch Yarbrough and wife Kim.
He was preceded in death by son Steve Yarbrough and sister Elsie Nimmo.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Glendale Assembly of God Church, 511 Willis Avenue, Glendale.
