Kenneth Warren Orton, 81, of Grants Pass died April 17, 2014, at his home.
Services have been held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Orton was born Feb. 16, 1933, in Venice, Calif., and grew up in the Portland, Oregon area. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Brigham Young University. In March 1951, he joined the Marines and was honorably discharged in June 1953, after being critically wounded. He received two Purple Hearts and a Gold Star.
He completed barber school in Portland and later managed other barber colleges. He also owned “Pirates Den” beauty and barber shop in La Grande.
On Sept. 30, 1977, he married Terrie M. Wade, who survives. They owned and operated an art business for many years and enjoyed living in their country home in Grants Pass with their seven cats, which they dearly loved.
In addition to his wife, Terrie M. Orton of Grants Pass, survivors include three daughters, Autumn of Portland, Julie Biggers and husband Gary of Portland, and Marni Irvin and husband Travis of La Pine; two brothers, Terry Orton and wife Camille of Reno, Nev., and Steve Orton and wife Sheri of St. George, Utah; three sisters, Lanice Johnson and husband Phil and Donna Roberts and husband Bruce, all of St. George, Utah and Jean Snyder and husband Nick of Eugene; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Orton, his mother, Fonda Orton-May, and a son, Kenneth Orton.
