Kenneth Lee Markey

Kenneth Lee Markey, age 62, of Grants Pass, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at his home of pancreatic cancer.

A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Missionary Baptist Church, 2200 Merlin-Galice Road with Pastor Milton Hayes and Pastor Daniel Barker officiating. A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Valley Home Memorial Park, 30705 Lone Tree Road, Oakdale, California. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth was born March 10, 1949 in Sacramento, California to William & Arduth Markey. In 1967 he graduated from Oakdale High School in Oakdale, California and went on to receive a police science degree from Modesto Junior College. He also attended Liberty University. On October 2, 1967 in Modesto he married Sandra Rhynes. For 30 years he was a correctional counselor for the California state department of corrections. He moved from California to Grants Pass 10 years ago. As a pastor, he filled in for church pastors throughout Oregon.

Kenneth attended Missionary Baptist Church in Grants Pass.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sandra Markey of Grants Pass, Oregon; three daughters, Christie Rhodes of Abilene, Texas, Shonia Hinton of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Melissa Markey of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother, David Markey of Pioneer, California; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
