Kenneth C.B. Stevenson, age 91, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his home.
No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Curtis Berry Stevenson was born April 10, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois to Matthew Berry & Ruby Moeller Berry. As a child, he moved with his mother to Villa Park, Illinois where his mother married Melvin Stevenson. After graduating from York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois, he played semi-pro football with the Elmhurst Travelers for the Central States Football League. On August 16, 1942 in Elmhurst he married Lillian Julia Cook. They moved to Roselle, Illinois where they raised their family. He apprenticed at Accurate Wire Forming and became a Tool & Die Maker in Chicago. He worked with Accurate Wire Forming until its closure in the 1970s and then worked for K&S Wire Forming. In 1985 after his retirement he moved from Roselle, Illinois to Grants Pass to live closer to family.
He was active in the Men’s Club and choir at Trinity Lutheran Church in Illinois and after moving to Grants Pass was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing, softball, and coaching youth sports.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen H. Fahr of Grants Pass, Oregon and Jan L. Leiken of Murphy, Oregon; two sisters, Ruby Porter of Ashland, Oregon and Julie O’Dell of Fort Collins, Colorado; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
