Kathleen Marie Gibney, age 92, of Cave Junction, died July 30, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Kathy was born March 6, 1926 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. At the age of eight, she moved with her family to Coos Bay, Oregon where she grew up, attended schools and graduated from Marshfield High School. In 1947 she married Francis William Gibney, who preceded her in death in 1997. In 1963 she moved from Port Orford, Oregon to Cave Junction.
Kathy was raised Catholic and attended St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Illinois Valley Golf Club where she scored a hole-in-one and was an avid bowler for 45 years at Caveman Bowl.
Her many hobbies included oil painting, especially seascapes and landscapes; beachcombing, traveling, knitting, and creating beautiful stained glass and jewelry.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen McCullough of Cave Junction; a son, Michael F. Gibney of Prineville, Oregon; a sister, Pat Cox of Cave Junction; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Kathy was a beautiful woman and a real lady. Her home was always a welcoming place for family and friends. She was a great cook and no one ever left hungry.
A funeral mass will be at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church with a reception to follow.
Private interment will be at Laurel Cemetery.
