Karen S Horton

Karen S. Horton, age 71, of Grants Pass, died February 24, 2019 at her home.

Karen was born November 9, 1947 in Lodi, California to A.W. & Hazel Weir. She graduated from Ygnacio Valley High School class of 1965 in Concord, California. At age 16 she married her high school sweetheart Richard Dale Horton on August 21, 1964 at Bethel Baptist Church in Concord. She loved being a homemaker and raising her children. She also owned and operated a used book store for a time. In 2001 she moved from Pine Grove, California to Grants Pass.

Karen was a member of the Southern Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Her Southern Baptist faith continued to be important to her and her husband. Together with her family, they were charter members of Sierra Baptist Church in Amador County, Northern California.

Karen especially enjoyed traveling and spending time together with her husband, and after 50 years of marriage they were still very much in love.

Survivors include two daughters Jill Leanne Quilici of Simi Valley, California and Deanna Dale Horton of Grants Pass, and Jill’s husband Amadeo Wayne Quilici and their son Aidan Gang-Hyeon Quilici; and brother Dale Edward Weir of Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Horton in 2015; her first child Joanna as an infant; her second pregnancy loss, both of whom, she mourned her entire life; and brother Kenneth W. Weir in 2008.

Services will be held at a later date.
