Karen Kay Campbell, age 65, of Cave Junction, passed Sunday, September 16, 2012 at her son’s home.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 28, 2012 at Fountain of Life Assembly of God Church in Cave Junction with Pastor Mark McLean officiating. There will be a potluck and time of fellowship following the service. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born Karen Kay McLean on July 6, 1947 in Sacramento, California. In 1965 she graduated from Pacifica High School. On January 11, 1975 she married John Steven Campbell and they separated in 1985. Karen moved with her children from Antioch, California to Cave Junction, Oregon in 1986. She worked at Shop Smart in Cave Junction for the next eight years. In 1997 she graduated from Rogue Community College with a degree of Associate of Applied Science in Human Services/Substance Abuse. As a Drug and Alcohol Counselor she worked for several years in Josephine and Jackson counties. In 2004 she became a Family Case Manager for Project Baby Check, an outreach program of Siskiyou Community Health Center, until leaving due to illness this past June.
Karen was a member of Fountain of Life Assembly of God Church where she served on the church board and taught children’s church.
Her hobbies included painting, calligraphy, cooking and baking.
Survivors include a son, John David Campbell and a daughter, Beverly Lynn Campbell both of Cave Junction, Oregon; a sister, Donna Martin of California; a brother, Don McLean of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and one grandchild, Deborah Kay Bell of Cave Junction, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Robert “Mac” McLean.
