June Rose Hopping

June Rose Hopping, age 85, of Grants Pass, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

June was born September 17, 1926 in East Bergen, New Jersey to Herman Rudolph Schlerf & Mary Christine Fettig Schlerf. In June 1943 she graduated from Alhambra High School in San Gabriel, California. On May 12, 1946 in Pasadena, California she married Robert Julian Hopping. June lived in Vancouver, Washington for 15 years before moving to Grants Pass 16 years ago.

She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.

June loved the forest, especially planting trees; loved learning including taking classes at Santa Rosa Junior College and Rogue Community College; and also enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include two daughters, Julia Hopping of Vancouver, Washington and Tracey Hopping of Grants Pass, Oregon; two sons, Rob Hopping of Park City, Utah and Craig Hopping of Apache Junction, Arizona; a sister, Mary Hanes of Grants Pass, Oregon; two brothers, George Schlerf of Vancouver, Washington and Herman Schlerf of Reedsport, Oregon; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hopping in 1998.
