Julie Warde, age 55, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Julie was born February 3, 1956 in White Plains, New York to Theodore & Carolyn Warde where she was raised. She graduated from White Plains High School. In 1974 she moved to Oakland, California and attended California College of Arts and Crafts. She moved from Oakland to Healdsburg, California and lived there for 20 years. After meeting Dennis McKinney she moved to Grants Pass in 2004. She worked as a chef at Rogue Community College and at various restaurants in the area. For the past two years she worked at The Vine Restaurant.
Her hobbies included cooking, art, golfing, traveling, playing Yahtzee, collecting beach glass, being outdoors and laughing at a good joke. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her cat, Maple Sugar. Julie will be missed by everyone that knew her. She was always the life of the party. She had an infectious laugh, and always had a bright smile that brought all of us such joy. She was an amazing artist and chef. Her uniqueness and zest will be missed.
Survivors include her companion, Dennis McKinney of Grants Pass; two sisters, Mary Carlsson of Ukiah, California and Catherine Nelson of Jenner, California; a brother, David Breskin of Port St. Lucie, Florida; two half-brothers, Danny Breskin and Doug Breskin, both of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Amberg.
