Julia Alma Keefe

Julia Alma Keefe, age 97, of Medford, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at an adult foster home.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Chaplain Frank Barrows officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Julia Alma Theriault was born October 16, 1910 at Reed Plantation, Maine to Prosper & Della Theriault. She lived in New Hampshire and as a young adult lived in Lowell, Massachusetts. Julia met the love of her life, Wesley John Keefe at church in Maine. At that time she was a young single mother to her daughter Lois who was born with cerebral palsy. Julia and Wesley both worked in a mill, but Julia didn''t give Wesley any hope for a future as she thought he was too young for her. Yet on June 10, 1939 in Lebanon, Maine Julia and Wesley married. They lived in many places in the East Coast before moving to the West Coast and lived in places such as Long Beach, Rosamond, Hemet, Santa Rosa, and Sebastopol, California and Mount Vernon and Sedro Woolley, Washington. In her mid 40s Julia returned to school and became and LVN. She worked at Seaside Memorial Hospital in Long Beach where she was a stickler for details and was an excellent nurse. She moved from Washington to Oregon and lived in Grants Pass, Roseburg, Canyonville, and most recently lived to Medford.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Julia was a deeply religious woman and was quick to speak her mind on spiritual things. She was strong willed and was faithful to live what she believed. She passed on her faith to several generations.

Survivors include grandchildren, Steve Moore & Grace Wilson; great-grandchildren, Twyla, Tanya, Isaac, Leah, Summer, Athena, Everett; great-great-grandchildren, Aries, Zhane, Tatum, and Ryanna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Keefe on August 5, 2005 and her only child, daughter Lois Moore.
