Juanita Maxine Hoffman, age 90, of Grants Pass, died June 1, 2018 at Regency Care Rogue Valley.
Juanita was born July 16, 1927 in Bogue, Kansas to Ivan & Ova Custine. In 1937 her family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where she grew up, attended school and worked at F.W. Woolworth from 1942 to 1944 and at J.C. Penney Company from 1944 to 1947. In 1946 she married Harold Hoffman who had chosen a Navy military career. For the next 22 years they lived in Japan, Alaska, Iceland, and many states. From 1960 to 1966 she worked as an accountant for the Navy Exchange Systems in Port Hueneme and in Iceland. Their home base during those military years was Port Hueneme and when Hal retired in 1967 they moved to Port Hueneme where she worked as an accountant for Naval Engineering Missile Systems. In 1976 they moved to Williams, Oregon where they had bought some land in 1971 and spent vacations improving the land before building their own home.
Juanita’s memberships included the Williams Grange; Fleet Reserve Auxiliary; Show Time’s Match Club; several bowling leagues; Williams Women’s Bunco Club; and her most favorite, the Ridge Riders Dirt Bike Motorcycle Club in California.
Her hobbies included bowling, crafts, camping, and she enjoyed entering the Josephine County Fair grange booth competition.
Survivors include three children, Cindy Ann McSwan of Williams, Lindy Joy Dennis of Grants Pass, and Randy Wayne Hoffman of Oak View, California; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Edward Hoffman; her parents; and a sister, Dolorous E. McColloum.
A family service will be held.
