Joyce M. Dollarhide, age 77, of Rogue River, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Rogue Valley Community Church in Rogue River. A Potluck luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church, please bring your favorite dish. Private inurnment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Joyce was born May 19, 1935 in Gardena, California to William & Bessie Thatcher. Her family moved from Gardena, California to Grants Pass in 1945. She graduated from Grants Pass High School, Class of 1953. On April 22, 1956 in Grants Pass, she married Charles Dollarhide. In 1970 she moved from Grants Pass to Rogue River. For 10 years she worked at Rogue River Pharmacy and from 1993 to 2003 she worked as a cashier at Fred Meyer in Grants Pass.
She was a member of the Baptist Church for many years. She was also a member of the Rogue River Lions Club and the Chieftain Chanters (currently the Booster Club).
Her hobbies included knitting, crafting, word puzzles and flower arranging. She especially enjoyed making flower arrangements for her grandchildren’s weddings.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Dollarhide; a daughter, Pam Powell of Rogue River; three sons, Ken Dollarhide of Grants Pass, Ron Dollarhide of Rogue River and Bob Dollarhide of Medford; a sister, Betty Moore of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Bill Thatcher of Grants Pass; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a son, Ed Dollarhide and a daughter, Susie Dollarhide.
