Jost Serge Sucro, age 78, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at his home.
A gathering of family and friends will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the family home. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Jost was born August 4, 1929 in Leipzig, Germany to Bernhard & Elizabeth Sucro. He learned drafting and design while working in his father’s advertising agency. For several years he worked for the U.S. Air Intelligence in Munich, Germany before moving to the United States in 1954 and living in Dayton, Ohio. On August 1, 1959 in Dayton, he married Ilse Stegmann. For 35 years he worked for different divisions of General Motors. During this time, as a designer, he received nine patents. After his retirement in 1990, he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the world and the United States before making their home in Grants Pass.
He was a member of the Lions Club while living in Ohio and locally was a member of the Rogue River Accordion Club.
His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, and his ancestral lineage that he had fully traced.
In addition to his wife, Ilse Sucro of Grants Pass; he is survived by a son, Marcus Sucro of Hermosa Beach, California; a daughter, Michelle (Sucro) Childress of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Sonja Ernstberger of Munich, Germany; a granddaughter, Suzan Sucro of Dayton, Ohio; and a grandson, Alexander Serje Childress of Dayton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
