Joseph W. McEntire, age 80, of Gold Hill, Oregon died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at a local foster care home.
A private family memorial will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Joseph was born April 30, 1932 in Rector, Missouri to Leonard & Myrtle McEntire. After meeting in their home town of Cave Junction, Joe married Melda Huffman on July 3, 1952 in Reno, Nevada. After living in Crescent City and Gasquet, California they moved to Rogue River, Oregon where they’ve remained for 43 years.
From 1983 until his retirement in 2002 Joe worked as a Safety and Driver Training Instructor for Sherman Brothers Heavy Trucking out of Eugene, Oregon. He loved the trucking Industry.
Joe also enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars, camping at Sourdough Campground and spending time with his extensive family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Melda McEntire of Rogue River, Oregon; four children, Donald McEntire, Patricia McEntire, Peggy Lara, and Sandra Deffebach; a sister, Marcella Hooey; a brother, Doss McEntire; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leonard & Myrtle McEntire and a brother, Donald Robert McEntire.
