Joseph James “Jim” Jessome, age 76, of Selma, died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
He was born August 1, 1936 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Estelle & Joseph Jessome. When he was 16, the family moved to Southern California. He proudly served in the United States Navy for four years from 1954 to 1958. He worked in government civil service for 30 years at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard and Seal Beach Naval Shipyard as an electronic and radar specialist. In 1970 at Las Vegas, Nevada he married his wife Cathy. He retired from civil service in 1990 and upon Cathy’s retirement they moved to Selma, Oregon in 2001.
He enjoyed square dancing, the ocean, sailboats, his tractor, and his ranch in Selma.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy; his sister, Jerry Beam, and his brother, John “Jack” Jessome.
