Joseph Donald “Joe” Schiffiler, passed away at the age of 94, in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Joe was born in Bell, California on April 19, 1927. He attended and graduated from Huntington Park High School in California. He was also a graduate of University of Southern California (USC) having attained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In 1951 Joe married his high school sweetheart Mary. Together they raised two daughters Susan and Janice, and a son Tony. Joe was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Navy. During that time his father was also in the Navy and his mother was a “Rosie the Riveter” working at Vultee Aircraft. He retired as a Lieutenant from his local police department after 28 years of service. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Oregon where he oversaw and participated in the building of their house.
His passions over the years were taking his family to the beaches of southern California, and then further enjoying the great outdoors in the Oregon and northern California mountainous regions doing hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing, sailing, and taking his family camping. Joe was also an avid classic car enthusiast and owned several early car models that he lovingly restored. He was a member of Rogue Rovers car club and would enjoy getting together for car shows and road trip outings.
Joe is survived by daughter Susan and husband Ed, son Tony and wife Rosie, daughter Janice and partner Billy; grandsons Shane and Trajan; great-grandsons Cayden and Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary.
Joe’s final resting place will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Oregon at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021.
