John Vincent Tanner, beloved husband and father valiantly fought but was gracefully defeated by a battle with stomach cancer. He passed peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at his home encircled by his devoted family. Mr. Tanner was a strong, capable man, independent and life loving until his end. He leaves behind his mourning family enduring a palpable void.
John was born in Anaconda Montana on March 26, 1928. He was the first son of Florence Kepner and Vincent S Tanner. When he was a young man he moved to Utah, where he worked in the oil Fields. He later moved to Salt Lake City, UT where he was a top salesman for Encyclopedia Britannica, and later worked as a welder for St. Regis. John loved fishing, especially with his daughters, working on his home in Rogue River, and developing and creating ingenious inventions. He was a member of the LDS church.
In his early 20’s he married Eva Lou Workman, they had five children. Twin sons, Conrad and Ladd, and three daughters, Terry Lou, Lanni, and Mona.
John later met and fell in love with Renee Cunningham. They married December 16, 1968 and together had two daughters, Johnnette and Rnon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mary June, Elva Deween and Betty; a brother, Meldon; first wife, Eva Lou; his eldest daughter, Terry Lou; his wife, Rene and his son, Conrad.
His is survived by his brothers, Charles and Noel Tanner; sisters, Ramona, Arden and Reha; son, Ladd; daughter-in-law, Joyce Tanner; daughters, Lanni Dutson, Ramona Brown, and Johnnette Tanner and her husband Roland Hutcherson; youngest daughter Rnon Tanner and her husband David Eye; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
