John Thomas "John Boy" Hayes

John Thomas “John Boy” Hayes, age 71, of Grants Pass, died Monday, February 4, 2013 at his home.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors with Pastor Gene Simmons officiating. A gathering with refreshments will immediately follow at the funeral home.

John was born January 7, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri and in 1960 he graduated from High School in St. Louis. As a young man he learned the drywall trade and eventually owned and operated his own company, J & L Drywall. As a result of an accident in 2008 he began slowing down and failing health forced his retirement six months ago. He has lived in Grants Pass for eight years. In 1985 John and Lynda began their journey together.

He was a member of the Elks and Eagles Lodges for many years.

His hobbies included gambling, karaoke, horse racing at Santa Anita and Delmar, telling jokes, golfing, fishing, shooting pool and boogie boarding.

Survivors include his three daughters, Vickie Riddering of Riverside, California, Kenda Fuller of Beatrice, Nebraska and Mindee Reyna of Diller, Nebraska; two sons, Robbi Hayes of San Bernardino, California and Dave Hayes of Riverside, California; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
