John Stevens

April 28, 1937 — October 7, 2008

John Henry “Steve” Stevens, age 71, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at his home.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Newman United Methodist Church with Reverend Melissa Harkness Haugen officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Steve was born on April 28, 1937 in Tulare, California to John Charles & Goldie Stevens. After graduating from high school he joined the United States Navy. While in San Diego he met and married Lois Ribeau. They lived in Chula Vista, California and had three of their children, Gail, John, and Dana. Steve worked in both the aircraft and automotive industry. They then moved to Santa Cruz, California where their fourth child, Lori was born. After a few years his company sent the family to Bremerton, Washington where he worked for two years. Then the family headed to Orlando, Florida where he worked for two more years. They then went back to California to Costa Mesa where they settled for 21 years. Steve and Lois retired in 1995 and moved to Grants Pass.

He was a member the Elks and Sis-Q-RV Club (RV Camping Group)

He was enjoyed gardening, fishing, Rving, camping and the computer.

Survivors includes his wife, Lois Stevens of Grants Pass; four children, daughter, Gail Pershing of San Dimas, California; daughter, Dana Redmond of Grants Pass, a son John Stevens of Lugoff, South Carolina, and daughter, Lori Davies of Fullerton, California; two sisters, Lorretta McBride and Dorothy Lovejoy, both of Carthage, Missouri; sister-in-law, Judy Osterkamp of Orange, California and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven and father and mother, John Charles & Goldie Stevens.
