John M. Szallasi

John M. Szallasi, age 80, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Providence Medford Medical Center after a yearlong illness.

John was born June 18, 1934 in Nagyecsed, Hungary the youngest of eight children. In 1956 he fled Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution. For six years he lived in Austria and immigrated to the United States in 1962. He was a graduate of Columbia University in New York City and worked there as a computer supervisor. His other work experience included Honeywell Avionics in Long Beach, California and Ambassador College in Pasadena, California. In 2000, John retired from Boeing where he worked as an Avionics Technician for 13 years.

John would have been 81 on June 18th and would have been married for 45 years on June 28th.

He leaves behind his wife, Carol; one sister, Nora of Hungary; and many nieces and nephews in Hungary, Australia, Ecuador and England.

Plans for a celebration of life are pending. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
