John Gibson, age 85, of Cave Junction, died January 16, 2021 at his home.
Johnnie Dean Gibson was born November 22, 1935 in Altus, Oklahoma to John Henry & Claudean Charlese Gibson. He graduated from Medford High School, class of 1953. In 1955 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Therese Stewart. Together they moved to San Diego, California where John drove truck as a route driver selling and stocking cookies in grocery stores. After returning to Medford, he worked for United Grocers at the warehouse and later the main office. In 1979 they moved to Cave Junction where he opened Jim’s Sentry Select Market and later Grants Pass Redwood Market, retiring in 2006.
John was a member of the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge both in Cave Junction.
John enjoyed country music and movies; golfing; fishing from his boat; and hunting.
Survivors include son Tom Gibson and daughter Lori Fitzsimmon both of Cave Junction; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded by his wife, Mary Gibson in 2020.
