John F. Kanig Jr

John F. Kanig Jr, age 67, of Cave Junction, died March 30, 2017 in Grants Pass, Oregon.

John was born March 12, 1950 in Vallejo, California to John & Jeanette Kanig. He attended schools in Happy Camp, California and then joined the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Happy Camp and worked in the lumber industry. In 1980 he moved from Happy Camp to Cave Junction. Where he worked at Rough & Ready until his retirement.

His hobbies included fishing, the outdoors, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include two daughters, Angela Newton and Sara Hipp both of Grants Pass, Oregon; a sister, Joy Morgan of Lincoln, California; three brothers, Jack Kanig of Marcola, Oregon, Jerry Kanig of McMinnville, Oregon and Joel Kanig of Redding, California; and four grandchildren, Cheyenne Newton, Carli Newton, Cassidy Hipp and Christian Hipp.

A graveside service with military honors will be Friday, April 14, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
