John Barnard, age 95, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Three Rivers Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2014, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

John was born October 14, 1918, in Buffalo, New York. In 1942 he married Elsa Spitznagel. During World War II he served in the United States Army Air Corps. After the war, he attended the University of Buffalo and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He worked for General Electric his entire career which took him from Schenectady, New York to San Jose, California to Washington, DC and back to San Jose. A mechanical engineer, he worked developing commercial power plants, including atomic power plants. In 1983 he retired and in 1997 moved to Ashland with his wife, Elsa. After her death in 2005, he relocated to Grants Pass, where his sons also reside.
He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
His hobbies included golf, woodworking, gardening, and skiing.
Survivors include two sons, John Barnard Jr and Jeff Barnard and wife Beth all of Grants Pass; a daughter, Charlotte Barnard of New York, New York; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
