Jimmie B. “Jim” Hill Sr., 63, of Sunny Valley, died Friday, November 28, 2008 at his home.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Sunny Valley Outreach Ministries with Cliff Pinkham officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
He was born on April 15, 1945 in Nebo, Missouri. He grew up in Cottage Grove and in August of 1962 he joined the U S Navy but was later discharged in October 1962 due to family hardship. In 1963 he moved to Grants Pass where he lived for several years. He lived in Murphy for a couple of years prior to moving to Sunny Valley in 1989. On September 7, 1985 in Big Pine Camp Ground in Merlin he married the former Mary Jo Malarz, who survives. Jim’s father married them. He worked in several local mills including Cabax in Kerby. He also worked for Grants Pass Molding and medically retired in 1981.
He was a member of the North American Hunting Club; the NRA; Southern Oregon Hounds Club and Sunny Valley Outreach Ministry, where he volunteered to maintain the grounds.
He enjoyed hunting, especially with his hound dogs. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.
In addition to his wife, Mary Jo Hill of Sunny Valley; survivors include his two sons, Jimmie B. Hill Jr. and Jeffrey B. Hill, both of Central Point; his daughter, Kimberley Falvai of Tacoma, Washingtopn; three sisters, Mina Towery of Pampa, Texas; Virginia Phillips of Murphy; and Nancy Johnson of Vernonia, Oregon; two brothers, Forest Hill Jr. of Wilderville; and Marvin Hill of Days Creek, Oregon; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Shannon Hill in 1966; his dad, Forest E. Hill Sr. in 1997; his mother, Eva M. Hill-Kelly in 2007; and his sister, Lois E. Wood in 1997.
