Jennie Louise Giesen passed quietly Monday October 23rd.
Jennie was born May 14, 1925 in Rogue River, Oregon in what is now Windermere Realty Office. She was raised on Pleasant Creek in Wimer, on the family homestead, with her two sisters Crete and Nellie. She attended Evans Valley Grade School and Rogue River High School. She frequently recalled the difficult, but memorable times growing up in Wimer during the Depression. After the War, she married Parnell (Rusty) Giesen and raised her family in Rogue River. During the meager logging years, the family moved briefly to Florida for work opportunities. After several years, the family returned to their home in Oregon.
Jennie was always about family. She worked hard to have her children receive a private Catholic education and all her spare time was cooking, canning, gardening and sewing. She will be remembered for the clothes she made for her children and grandchildren. She was the Master of making the finest meals from the most meager supplies. Deer meat and fish caught by Rusty were common place at the meal table but she will always be remembered for her baking skills. The aroma of fresh baked bread and pies always filled the house.
She was most proud of her children and grandchildren and she was always happy to share her pride with others.
She is survived by her sister Nellie Sanderson of Medford; daughter Cheryl Standley of Bend; and her son Jimmy of Grants Pass.
She was preceded in death by Rusty her husband of 60 years; father Fred; mother Katherine (Nana); sister Crete; son Clarence; and daughter Cretie.
