Jeanne Frances Oaks, age 98, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at her home.

Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Grants Pass.

Jeanne was born in Modesto, California August 27, 1921 to Guy O. Webb and Florence M. Webb and raised in Joplin, Missouri until age 16 when her folks moved the family to Bakersfield, California and she graduated from Kern County Union High School in 1939.

On February 23, 1946 she married Ralph Bosse in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage lasted for 33 years until 1979 when Ralph passed away. In the meantime, she worked 35 years in hospitals in California and Oregon as Director of Medical Records; taking her first training at Kern General Hospital in Bakersfield, California. In 1952, Ralph and Jeanne moved to Rogue River, Oregon where they owned and operated the Chinook Sporting Goods Store until 1962. During that time, Jeanne was the secretary to the superintendent of schools in Rogue River for five years.

They then moved into Grants Pass where she went to work for Josephine Memorial Hospital until she retired in September 1983. She was one of three people left in the entire United States that came under the grandfather clause of being accredited in the American Association of Medical Record Librarians. On October 25, 1980 she married Michael L Oaks in Reno, Nevada. She loved to travel, dance, and read.

Jeanne belonged to many organizations Including the Emblem Club #444, Josephine Chapter #26 Order of the Eastern Star, the Etna Rebekah Lodge #49, the Zuelmia Temple #13, Daughters of the Nile, White Robe Nile/club, PEO chapter CD, and past president of the Rogue River and Grants Pass Lion’s Auxiliaries.

Survivors include her spouse; one daughter Trisha Jeanne Bice; stepson Michael David Oaks, step daughter Michelle Hagen, five grandchildren Ronald, Amanda, Jeanne, Jeffrey Elisa and Scotty Bice; two step grandchildren Alexis and Colin Hagen and one great grandchild Christian Bice.

Memorials may be made to the Crippled Children’s Hospital in Portland Oregon.
