Jeanette Marie “Jan” Perkins, age 84, of Grants Pass, Oregon passed away, Saturday, November 14, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Jan was born November 5, 1931 in Flint, Michigan where she lived until in 1942 when she moved to Pasadena, California at age 11. In 1948 she moved to Cave Junction. She later met Robert Perkins of Grants Pass and on November 25, 1949 in Reno, Nevada they were married. She lived in Wonder and Murphy and in 1962 they built their home in Grants Pass where they raised their family and lived the remainder of their years.
Jan was president of the American Council of the Blind, Rogue Valley Chapter.
Her hobbies included vegetable gardening, cooking, karaoke, and trips to Seven Feathers. Her home was the gathering house for holidays and celebrations. She was famous for her homemade bread and rolls.
Survivors include four children, Diana J. Breedlove of Grants Pass, Robert M. Perkins of Chino Valley, Arizona, Judith Ann Thompson and John G. Perkins both of Grants Pass; five sisters, Mildred Box of Kerby, June Colonna of Sun City, California, Veda Annunziato of Paso Robles, California, Patricia Ann Kelly of Joplin, Missouri, and Lois E. Smethers of Grants Pass; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sherry Lea Perkins in 1951 and her husband, Robert Perkins in 2008.
Private services will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements
