Former Grants Pass resident Jean D. Hoebing, 83, died in Baltimore, MD following complications from a fall on August 4th, 2014.
Jean was born in St. Louis, MO on 10/23/1930 to Charles and Josephine Jecmen. On July 4, 1953, she married Leo F. Hoebing in St. Louis, MO. As an active duty Navy family, they lived in Norolk, VA; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Waukegan, IL; and San Diego, CA before they settled to Grants Pass in 1966.
Jean was the executive assistant to the president of Rogue Community College for 20 years. She enjoyed being a Navy wife, and was an avid reader and traveler. After retirement she and her husband toured the country in their motor home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Leo F. Hoebing, and their son, James L. Hoebing.
Survivors include children John L. Hoebing; Janet Hoebing Kuivila (Tom Kuivila) of Chagrin Falls, OH; and Joyce Hoebing (John Williams) of Baltimore, MD; and grandchildren Parker, Ellie, Reed, Graham and Vivian, and a brother Charles J. Jecmen (Jean) of St. Louis, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James L. Hoebing Memorial Scholarship Fund, RCC Foundation, 3345 Redwood Highway, Grants Pass, OR 97527.
Arrangements were made by Hull & Hull Funeral Home. She was buried with her husband on August 13, 2014, at the Eagle Point Military Cemetery.
